Here is the time for you to make a fossil by yourself;

　

Faking a fossil footprint

You'll need:

• a cup-sized container filled with damp sand

• a co-operative cat or dog (if you can't get one, don't worry)

• nail polish (clear is best)Warning: Nail polish must be used in a well-ventilated room.

• an old toothbrush or paintbrush

Now we start to make it;

1. Press down the sand with your fingers until it's level.

2. Gently press one of your pet's feet into the sand, just hard enough to make an impression. If you don't have a pet, use your thumb instead.

3. Drip the nail polish in and around the imprint. You'll probably need less than a teaspoon of polish and be sure to use it in a well-ventilated room. The polish will soak into the sand, sticking it togrther. This is a sped-up version of the natural process of sand becoming sandstone.

4. Leave your print overnight for the nail polish to harden.

5. Remove your "sandstone" print by loosening the sand all around it.

6. Gently remove the loose sand from the back of the impression using the toothbrush.
